Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined.~ Patrick Henry
The communist/socialist answers the question of Locke's acorn in this manner; all men are themselves property in common of all other men or the government they create. Thus, the nourishment from Locke's acorn is never actually his but instead is nourishment to the purpose of advancing the ends of his owner, the commons, or the government thereof, which may in its absolute discretion likewise choose not to nourish him. This illustrates the final truth of communism/socialism, that in order to protect a few from abuse at the hands of a few, all men must be enslaved. To live or die only according to the whims of the commons or the mob without right or recourse.~ Robert Karnes
