A Rogue Take On Iowa

SANTORUM

Santorum bought his new lease on life. He will probably see more money coming in. He will still get creamed in New Hampshire but if he does well in SC he will begin to demonstrate depth in support.

My personal take on him? Morally and evangelically we are mostly in tune. Although I think the deficit spending he has helped along is totally immorally. To reuse one of Newt’s phrases, it IS generational theft. Historically Santorum is way too quick to spend my money and more importantly my children’s money. This is why I haven’t considered him as a top tier in my personal primary. Between him and Obama there is however no comparison. If he manages to secure the nomination it will be [...]

Structure Demands Behavior

So we know the Republicans have mostly sold us out after we delivered the House and almost the Senate in 2010. We should know that whatever we deliver to the Republican leadership; be it a bigger House, a Senate majority, the White House in 2012, they will do nothing of consequence. Taxes won’t be cut or simplified; spending will hardly slow and given our last experience under total Republican government it may well accelerate.

The establishment, left or right, considers us (Tea Party supporters) to be naïve.

Every two years we play this game where, if only we can win, then our side can claim #victory and government will return, at least a little to its rightful place. We’re #winning!!! We believe them. [...]

Where Are John Boehner’s Lips?

Image via Wikipedia

Oh trust me I have a couple of ideas. But whereever they are, they are not where they need to be.

This is a massive cave-in just like the one he pulled in the spring.

This time he has managed to drag along a few more of the freshmen in the house, thus destroying their credibility as well.

How did he get their support? By promising something he never intends to deliver.

The idea that the second raise in the debt ceiling requires a BBA to be passed out of House and Senate to the states is a cynical joke.

Seeing how far and fast he heads to the bottom this time is there any doubt he will capitulate again [...]

When Obama Summons Boehner to the White House does he use a process server?

How does Boehner take knowing he has been called out on the carpet?

You naughty little Ohioan!!!!

It is interesting how the MSM builds a perception.

I wonder how they would take a Boehner summoning Obama to the House floor. Offer him the podium for an hour if he will promise to bring his detailed vision how to balance the budget. Let the Saetoro fly.

For that matter let loud mouth Chris Van Hollen explain how his Balanced Budget Amendment would work since he says the Republican version is unfair. Come on Chrissie, if the Republican BBA is unfair show us what a balanced BBA should look like. And remember it HAS to balance the budget. Which means when your class warfare tax policies shrink [...]

A Few Quick Thoughts on The Ryan Plan

The Business Consumption Tax
What are the implications?

1.  It is a hidden tax. When congress wants to raise it only a few greedy corporations will complain. The average voter will be easily sold hikes on this tax as sticking it to the evil rich.

2. It is a tax on labor. Costs of goods and services are subtracted out. It used to be a fundamental conservative understanding that if you want less of something; TAX IT. By way of explaining progressive terminology I remind that LABOR means JOBS for WORKERS. Taxing labor, as this VAT does, means fewer jobs and not as a function of increased productivity (good) but as a function of the tax [...]

Why Repeal ObamaCare?

Image via Wikipedia

Why do we think the American Drive In should focus on ObamaCare when there are so many other problems that need attention?

Here are a few points to consider:

In the past, the big government, statist, RINO types have been all too happy to see us fractured into 5 or 10 different issues. It is easy to distract away from their poor performance if they can point to the five things they voted for, while accomplishing none of them. By focusing on ObamaCare, a single issue, there can be no doubt how each Representative and Senator votes. Most Americans agree we need to stop excessive spending, lower taxes, control illegal immigration, balance the budget, repeal financial reform and more; ObamaCare, more [...]

A Tale of Two Futures

A Tale of Two Futures

I could have kept Dickens original title describing two cities. One is a city on a hill providing light to the world, a beacon of liberty as envisioned by our forefathers. The other city is a Pompeii-esque backwater ossifying under a mountain of debt, excessive taxation and suffocating regulation destined for the ash heap.

One of these two cities is our future. We have delayed the decision for as long as possible. Much as the population of Pompeii, perhaps too ignorant to understand the signs and thus the danger when Vesuvius began its eruption, did not flee until it was too late; we too have delayed a choice, ignoring the signs and minimizing the danger. If we choose not to decide, [...]

Who Needs Money?

Image via Wikipedia

It would seem evident that Republicans will take the house, the senate is a toss-up and the RGA will do well. At this point the size of the victory is the big question. It won’t really matter if DeMint wins with 70% or 71%. We are coming down to a point where a few extra dollars here or there may help decide a close election. Michelle Bachmann, for example seems to be OK on cash and sending her money at the expense of say Christine O’Donnell may be a bad choice.

According to RCP, the races below are the ones mostly in play.

So who has money and who needs money? Which races are literally going to turn on a dime?

Tea Party Losers

With the DE primary over and the Tea Party candidate declared the victor, Redstater’s and other conservatives would do well to consider one important fact, if O’Donnell does not win the general election, it will not matter how many seats we win in the US House or the US Senate, the mainstream media will declare the Tea Party effort to be a bunch of LOSERS. The “R”stablishment Republicans have already so declared.

While the truth is her primary victory is proof that Tea Partiers are a force to be reckoned with and moderate to left leaning Republicans should take heed. Truth in the MSM has been at best an accident for at least 50 years.

Fear of this force and loss of party control is [...]

Thoughts on PA12

Losing sucks but it was clearly a tough place for a Republican to win. I am told, the district was originally Gerrymandered to create a strong Democrat seat by Republicans hoping to move as many Dems out of other districts as possible.

I didn’t originally go up to PA12 to actively campaign for Burns. I went as a chaperone for the Generation Joshua volunteers. That became driving for walkers and calling during downtime. (I was hoping to work on another project.) The GenJ volunteers made an average 2000+ phone calls each. Roughly, thirty-five kids ranging in age from 13 to 21 made about 75,000 phone calls in 4 days. They were obviously encouraging folks to vote for Burns and “get out to vote” for Burns. [...]
