I have heard the refrain for 10 years. So too have you.
I have heard it from folks I dislike, from folks I respect and from people I both like and respect.
We are told they hate us because we are free.
And it is a lie. Political correctness served large.
There are many reasons why this is a false statement.
For example, it assumes we are free. Given the bureaucratic tyranny that emanates from Washington we should be able to make peace with the ill-informed moo-slems by simply showing them a 1040A, 1099, EEOC form, EPA action report, or have OSHA pay them a visit. One look at the despotism of the beltway and they would be quite satisfied that gee-had was entirely [...]

and with financial reform, and health care, and Social Security, and MediCare/caid, and terrorism is this;
We have a government that thrives by driving us with fear. If they can scare us, they get more power. It is like a Pavlovian parlor trick.
Create FEAR = get POWER.
Create FEAR = get POWER.
etc, etc, ad nauseum.
It is not that these problems (the supposed underlying problem) don’t all have some risks associated with them. Poverty, injury, death. But the government has a vested interested in overblowing the danger in order to get us to release power to them. In fact, all too often, we DEMAND they take the power and do something.
We will never be free as long as [...]

Except, Rick Perry. Here.
Several of us recently had a debate in the diaries (Here and Here.) regarding the scam and how to end it. Thanks again GC.
The other side of the argument was that Social Security is “defacto constitution,” whatever that means, and that nobody who is anybody is saying it should be ended.
Not only is Perry talking about ending Social Security, he is talking about ending ALL of the New Deal. Income Tax, SS, and More.
Perry criticized President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal and an early 20th-century “progressive era” movement that “gave the federal government access to our wallets via taxation.”
Perry,” I want people to be afraid not to talk about that Social Security is bankrupt and is a [...]

A Tale of Two Futures
I could have kept Dickens original title describing two cities. One is a city on a hill providing light to the world, a beacon of liberty as envisioned by our forefathers. The other city is a Pompeii-esque backwater ossifying under a mountain of debt, excessive taxation and suffocating regulation destined for the ash heap.
One of these two cities is our future. We have delayed the decision for as long as possible. Much as the population of Pompeii, perhaps too ignorant to understand the signs and thus the danger when Vesuvius began its eruption, did not flee until it was too late; we too have delayed a choice, ignoring the signs and minimizing the danger. If we choose not to decide, [...]

A few days ago I wrote this post Who Needs Money.
I had one comment for Dr Donna and a few back channel requests. Here is where the money went:
WA Sen Rossi $250 MI1 Benishek $500 WV1 McKinley $500 FL8 Webster $500 MA4 Bielat $500 FL Gov Scott $500 TX25 Campbell $500 VA11 Fimian $500 OH Gov Kasich $250 KY Sen Paul $1,000 $5,000
McKinley uses PayPal, I don’t (They support Planned Parenthood and so do you if you use them) so that will be a check in the mail kind of thing.
Kasich double billed me (He is still a politician after all) but we will get that sorted out.
I tried to pick close races where a [...]

It would seem evident that Republicans will take the house, the senate is a toss-up and the RGA will do well. At this point the size of the victory is the big question. It won’t really matter if DeMint wins with 70% or 71%. We are coming down to a point where a few extra dollars here or there may help decide a close election. Michelle Bachmann, for example seems to be OK on cash and sending her money at the expense of say Christine O’Donnell may be a bad choice.
According to RCP, the races below are the ones mostly in play.
So who has money and who needs money? Which races are literally going to turn on a dime?

They could have just reprinted the US Constitution and said, “There, we promise that.”
Guess that wouldn’t be sexy like Twenty-One pages of wonkish gibberish.
It also shows a complete lack of understanding concerning what did work about the original Contract. Its brevity. Hence its marketability.
Think Google. Who clicks past page one? If you are going to send a message the gist of it had better be on page one.
The average person likely won’t get past the second paragraph of this document. And like the major flaw in the original Contract there is very little in this doc that is permanent.
Even if fully enacted we are just an election away from the next Obamanation.
The [...]

With the DE primary over and the Tea Party candidate declared the victor, Redstater’s and other conservatives would do well to consider one important fact, if O’Donnell does not win the general election, it will not matter how many seats we win in the US House or the US Senate, the mainstream media will declare the Tea Party effort to be a bunch of LOSERS. The “R”stablishment Republicans have already so declared.
While the truth is her primary victory is proof that Tea Partiers are a force to be reckoned with and moderate to left leaning Republicans should take heed. Truth in the MSM has been at best an accident for at least 50 years.
Fear of this force and loss of party control is [...]

Losing sucks but it was clearly a tough place for a Republican to win. I am told, the district was originally Gerrymandered to create a strong Democrat seat by Republicans hoping to move as many Dems out of other districts as possible.
I didn’t originally go up to PA12 to actively campaign for Burns. I went as a chaperone for the Generation Joshua volunteers. That became driving for walkers and calling during downtime. (I was hoping to work on another project.) The GenJ volunteers made an average 2000+ phone calls each. Roughly, thirty-five kids ranging in age from 13 to 21 made about 75,000 phone calls in 4 days. They were obviously encouraging folks to vote for Burns and “get out to vote” for Burns. [...]

When you see people who say they would vote for a RINO but never a libertarian it makes you wonder. What is the difference between a libertarian and a RINO that reasonable men could arrive at such a conclusion?
I created a handy table illustrating the differences between libertarians and RINOs on issues of the day and yesterday.
Principle Libertarian RINO Low Taxes No Taxes What Will Get Me (Re-)Elected Or WWGM(R)E for brevity Drug War End it WWGM(R)E Gun Rights The more the merrier WWGM(R)E Free Speech They never shut up. I think that pretty much says it all. WWGM(R)E Religion Most religious people are kooks but they have a right to be kooks. WWGM(R)E Free Press Totally dude [...]
