Money doesn’t grow on trees. Or does it?

Thought occurred to me recently concerning the size of the national debt. Follow me for a minute.

There are roughly 250,000 leaves on a typical tree. Found this out by googling it. In addition there are typically 350 trees per acre in a mature forest.

    250000
X        350
87500000

Ok, so we have 87.5 million leaves per acre.

Next we have 640 acres per square mile.

       87500000
X               640
56000000000

This gives us 56 Billion leaves per square mile.

Now as a part time resident (and native) I knew WV has about 25000 square miles. Turns out 24231 is exactly the right answer.
