I’ve had what I think is an epiphany, of sorts.
Conservatives and more so, libertarians, have a serious problem.
They view liberty and limited government as a kind of machine that has a couple of the gears stripped, maybe an armature frozen, a tensioner pulley a little loose. I do it too. For example, I see 1913 as a disastrous year and it was. Lots of gears, stripped, pulleys bent, etc. that year.
The idea is if we could just poke a little here and prod a little there, replace a gear, balance a flywheel, replace a shifter, undo 1913, etc. then everything would be back to normal and we would be good for a hundred years or more.

Why do we think the American Drive In should focus on ObamaCare when there are so many other problems that need attention?

The other side of the argument was that Social Security is “defacto constitution,” whatever that means, and that nobody who is anybody is saying it should be ended.
Not only is Perry talking about ending Social Security, he is talking about ending ALL of the New Deal. Income Tax, SS, and More.

In my late 20’s I started construction on my first REAL house. Rough cut lumber to save money because I had more time than money. I did about 75 percent of the labor myself. I ran every single stud through a planer at least 3 or 4 times. My brother and a neighborhood kid were my primary help. (Don’t tell OSHA about the kid)
Took about 4 years to get it ready to move in; it never did get quite finished. A few more trim boards needed here and there. Never move in thinking you’ll finish it later.

Seems like every time I turn around I hear or read somebody saying America will get through this current crisis. Or Obama’s socialist debauchery or Romney’s Progressive activities. That the American Spirit is indomitable. It will always shine through, waters will part, the sun will shine, liberty will prevail, Gawd will never let America fall no matter how far she um, er, falls?!!!
